Cajun Fest 2015

The Whitehead Museum’s Cajun Fest was another huge success.

This year’s event featured fried catfish, crawfish, boiled shrimp and a few other delicacies from the bayou, along with the sounds of Texas Cajun band Cher La-bas from San Antonio.

Michael Diaz, Museum Director, who was cooking up a batch of hush puppies, said they were hoping to top last year’s mark of $2,000 raised for the museum’s budget.

However, it may have been a blessing in disguise for Luis Flores, now a Houston Astros minor league prospect as he will get more game action in the minor league camp.

“I knew I wasn’t one of the 25 guys who was going to be on the major league roster but it’s great to be in the big league camp,” Flores said. “I’m still wearing the uniform to play every day and that’s what drives me.”
